Wow wow wow! That about sums up my past week and a bit...let me
elaborate...please! Started last Saturday May 1st, Yard Card first
thing-flamingos everywhere! Then to play a winning 8am baseball game,
whoop whoop! Hopped back into the van and headed to Qualicum, BC, for
their famous Fire and Ice festival. Oh it was a blast, with their chilli
cook off, 18 ice carvers competing for best ice carving, music, and my
favourite...the Kids Zone! The Kids Zone was were you could have found
me from 11-3pm, but to get to me you would have had to wait almost 30
minutes! I had a line up of kids all the way across the street! AWESOME!
Time flew by as I twisted up all sorts of creatures like mice,
dinosaurs, and unicorns. Then there were the crazy hat creations, some
with eyeballs to see behind you, some with hearts and some
indescribable. Before I knew it the chilli had been eaten, the carvings
were judged and the kids were making their ways home. I said 'See ya
later' to Qualicum, hopped in the van and returned to Comox, but not for
long.
Tuesday came and saw Lots of Laughs on route to Tofino,
BC, to supply a party with helium and set up a Yard Card right on the
front lawn of the Weigh West Marine Resort on Campbell St, which is the
only road in and the only road out. So, everyone had a good laugh for
Duane's 40th. When I wasn't working I sipped a deliciously strong coffee
from Tofician, walked Chesterman Beach, toured the town on foot,
bumping into old friends around every corner (from when I lived in
Tofino and Ucluelet...back in the day). I was even lucky enough to get
in a surf! It was perfect little wee waves for a girl who has only
surfed maybe 2 times in the past 4 years.
Thursday came and it
was time to head back to Comox, after all, I had to present an award at
Crown Isle: The Lawrence Belfrage (my dad) award, in memory of a life
filled with smiles. Its going to be a big night! To my surprise, the
night was bigger than I thought it was going to be...Turned out, I was
the recipient of the Comox Valley Home Based Business award for
Inspiration! YIPEE! What an honor, I never thought that I was going to
get an award. Speechless.Thanks everyone!
What a creative group those Errington kids are! I had a bunch of
requests I hadn’t had before, it was great. A sloth, a full astronauts
helmet, a flower...ok I've made a flower before, just checking to see if
your paying attention, lol. Successfully completed all balloon
requests, but I'm still a little bummed that I'm too tall for the bounce
slide thingy, because it looked MEGA FUN.
Phew, after all that...I
headed to Vancouver for a night, just because I can! Ha-ha! Said hello
to some great friends, had some of Vancouver’s delicious food, followed
up with a mini shop. Aaah, ain't life grand!?
I would just like to
say, thanks Gail for getting me out to Errington, and to Johanna for
giving me an excuse to visit friends in Tofino. Can't forget Marilynn
for the invite to Qualicum, and letting me return May 30th for
Qualicum’s Family Day;) Till then!
