We Can't Forget the Balloon Guy!
Lawrence Belfrage creator of Lots Of Laughs.ca had been entertaining family audiences since 1981 in the Province of British Columbia. Starting his training in California [College of San Mateo] Lawrence, continued to train in Toronto and Vancouver as a Musician, [Traverse Flute, and Percussion]. It was when he joined a Mime Troupe [Ole Sweet Clown] as a musician Lawrence discovered his true calling as a Mime. “Todo the Mime” became his character. Working all across British Columbia in community fairs, festivals and special events such as Kimberly, Cranbrook, Grandforks, Invermere, Kelowna, Revelstoke, the Oakganagan and many in the lower mainland community. As a silent Mime/Clown many delighted, laughed, cried with joy, and stood up for the final ovation at his zany antics as he brought the “Lighter side of Life” to all his performances.

| Expo 1986 gave Lawrence some of his biggest viewing audiences to date. Working with Corporate companies, “Hasbro Brothers, GM Place, BCTV” Todo the Mime performed for the entire six months that Expo 86 ran. | |
| Mime,
mannequin, and magic were the work of the
day. That year opened up many doors for
Lawrence and his delightful silent character Todo. Lawrence
performed as Todo in the Kid’s Zone at the Pacific
National Exhibition for four years running every
August to delight, create laughter, and produce a
fun package to the thousands that flowed through the
Kid’s Zone. This was also the same year Lawrence
applied to show case at Art Scan. A new and very
large Venue for Lawrence’s work just opened up.
Touring schools in the lower mainland, interior, and
the Kootenays, “Todo the Mime” stayed very busy
entertaining and instructing in the wonderful world
of silence.
Lawrence’s career continued to expand into
Television, Herb and Lois Walkers; “Tele a Tale
Time”, Paul Hann and Friends Television show out of
Edmonton. Lawrence also found a niche in the Movie
industry as a special skills performer, working in
shows like IT, Broken Badges, Wise Guys, Commis, and
ToYo Tires. |

| In 1990, Lawrence started L.O.L. Productions. Producing entertainment events for Corporate Clients, entertaining at conventions, touring fairs and festivals, [Vancouver Children’s Festival, Children’s festival, in Kimberley Parksville, Courtenay and the Osoyoos Cherry Fiesta] his reputation as a quality performer continued to grow. | |
| Lawrence became so busy that he began to have little
time for his own family. In 1993 Lawrence moved his
family to Vancouver Island, “Comox Valley”. Lawrence
made a conscience decision to be a stay at home dad
thru his daughter’s pre teen and teen years. No more
touring, no more entertaining as in the past.
L.O.L. productions grew into its real name Lots of Laughs Productions [1995] and in 2005 Lots of Laughs.ca. Since 1995, Lawrence built this fun Balloon and Entertainment Company through his discipline, desire and dedication to the arts. Lawrence never stopped entertaining; he just changed his direction to allow himself to be home. |

| Lots of Laughs.ca soon became a high quality Balloon company specializing in On the Spot Theatre, Balloon sing a grams, innovative, fun and elegant balloon decorating options for weddings, anniversaries, community events and galas. Lots of Laughs.ca produces fun theme children entertainment parties, which has developed a completely new world of entertainment. Lawrence grew into his new work and where ever he performed young audiences all over Vancouver Island remember “The Balloon Guy” in his show “Building a Life, Island Style”. | |

Lawrence Belfrage is missed by friends and family. Especially by his daughter and friend Nadia, as Lawrence is a man incomparable.
